''At my place 83p for 25 or 50 during happy hour, which is 9.00 to 11.00 weekdays & 5.00 to 6.00 weekends, provided you top up your card with 1,500 balls for £50. Decent quality balls & great mats. Happy hour is like a retirees' social club. Go there, hit a few balls, have a coffee & a chat.

I can spend most of the morning there. It's attached to an American Golf, but run separately, so I can browse the stock while I'm there too.

I'm there most mornings if I'm not playing.''

I hope you and your family are safe and well during these difficult times.

Hopefully we will see a relaxation to the lockdown in the coming weeks and get back to enjoying the game we love.

With that in mind I am delighted to announce a very exciting development on the coaching front at Sunderland Golf Centre.

With immediate effect on the relaxation of lockdown, all coaching activities will be operated by PMG Academies and will trade with the brand Sunderland Golf Academy from our driving range venue. PMG Academies are managed by PGA European Tour Coach Mark Pearson, a former Academy Director at The Belfry's PGA National Golf Academy and now a successful operator and manager to a number of hugely successful golf academies.

The all new Sunderland Golf Academy will bring a fresh look to the coaching offering. High-tech individual lessons including Trackman 4 radar and video analysis, the FUEL Junior Programme, StartGolf for beginners and novices and a wide selection of PMG Performance Clinics.

Our current PGA Teaching Professional Gary Shipley will be joining the PMG Team and will be joined by Brian Ridley who is currently Head Teaching Professional at PMG’s Romanby Academy, but a well respected and liked coach known to many in the North East. In addition Mark Pearson will assume Academy Director responsibilities and will also be available onsite for his Performance Clinics.

In the build up to lockdown being released we will inform you of our Sunderland Golf Academy special opening offers and activities.

In the meantime you can visit the new coaching website at www.sunderlandgolfacademy.co.uk and watch things develop.

As we are now into our Summer opening hours then on weekdays we are open until 9pm.

Our re-opening comes with the strict conditions which have been laid down by the Government.

We will be operating a one way system from entering and leaving our premises and of course social distancing will apply to everyone.

Handwashing facilities are available along with hand gel and antibacterial sprays, we will be regularly cleaning the premises and equipment. However we hope that customers will be mindful and prepared for their own personal safety and wellbeing by not only being vigilant but having access to their own supplies.

Naturally we will continue to be unable to rent out any clubs for hire, and we would prefer card payments if at all possible.

We look forward to welcoming you back and putting your golf practise back on your agenda

SUNDERLAND GOLF CENTRE (THE DRIVING RANGE) ARE CONTINUING TO MAINTAIN SOCIAL DISTANCING OF 2 METRES FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR CUSTOMERS AND STAFF.

IF YOU HAVE ANY COVID SYMPTOMS OR CANNOT KEEP TO ANY OF OUR STANDARDS THEN PLEASE DO NOT ENTER.

WE ARE UNABLE TO ACCEPT ANY GROUPS OF MORE THAN 4 ON THE RANGE AT ANY TIME SO DO NOT ATTEMPT TO JOIN WITH OTHERS ONCE IN THE RANGE.

AT BUSY TIMES WE MAY LIMIT NON MEMBERS TO A MAXIMUM OF 50 BALLS.

WE ARE ALSO UNABLE TO RENT OUT ANY CLUBS AND WE REQUEST THAT NO SHARING OF ANY CLUBS TAKES PLACE
